Varietal Notes

What is Sydra?

Originally from the Pichincha province in Ecuador, the Sydra (or also known as Bourbon Sydra) is a hybrid varietal made of Red Bourbon and Typica. It has similar sweetness and body like that of the Red Bourbon and the bright taste and acidity like that of the Typica. It has dynamic flavours and an interesting mouthfeel. You can expect ripe stone fruit notes, such as nectarine, apricot, and peach. It also carries lots of botanical and mint notes as well.


Producer Notes

At just 23 and 25, Nestor and Adrian Lasso are emerging leaders in specialty coffee. Along with Jhoan Vergara, they co-own El Diviso farm, featured on the global stage in Busan for the World Barista Championship 2024, was grown. While their parents were commodity coffee farmers, the trio shifted to specialty coffee, driven by its economic potential and their passion for innovative production methods. Through their efforts, they aim to showcase coffee's true value and inspire other producers to embrace higher-quality practices.
