Varietal Notes

What is Landrace?

“Landrace” in coffee doesn’t refer to one single variety, but to traditional, locally adapted Ethiopian coffee populations that evolved naturally rather than being created in breeding programs. In the cup, Ethiopian landrace coffees are often very aromatic and complex, with bright citrusy acidity, floral and tea-like notes, sweet fruit (berries, stone fruit, tropicals), and a light to medium, silky or tea-like body (juicier and denser in naturals).

Producer Notes

Eliyas Dukamo and Atiklit “Mimi” Dejene founded Elto Coffee in Sidama, building on experience with Daye Bensa (Eliyas) and Gesha Village quality control (Mimi). They operate drying stations in Bona and Arbegona, applying tight process control to produce traceable, competition-grade microlots. Their focus is precision, innovation, and rigorous QA. “Elto” in Sidama means “abundance” and “more than passion,” reflecting their ethos.
