Varietal Notes

What is SL28?

SL28 is a celebrated coffee varietal originally selected in Kenya by Scott Agricultural Laboratories in the 1930s for its cup quality and ability to perform in dry growing conditions. It is especially known for producing vibrant, complex coffees with bright acidity, juicy sweetness, and flavors often associated with blackcurrant, red berries, citrus, and florals. While most closely associated with Kenya, SL28 is now grown in other origins around the world and is prized for its distinctive, expressive cup profile.
