What is Pink Bourbon?

Pink Bourbon is an Arabica coffee variety known for its pink-colored cherries and very vibrant, fruity cup profile. Despite the name, genetic testing suggests it’s not actually a Bourbon line variety, but closer to an Ethiopian landrace. It was popularized in southern Huila, Colombia, where producers noticed its high sweetness, floral notes, and lively acidity, often reminiscent of high-end washed Ethiopians or Gesha. It can be more challenging to cultivate and keep genetically “pure,” but farmers and roasters value it for its distinctive flavor and quality potential.
